A> Yes we can do this for you, we have a vast CD collection in which we use for parties and events for background music or you can select your own music and give this to us on CD and we will have it playing through the PA system. Our lights track any music played to create a disco effect.

A> Yes. It’s your evening and we are there to provide what you want. Bear in mind that the limiting volume factor with most bands is the drums (the only things which are not plugged in and therefore have no volume control) and so there will always be some ambient noise, of course. Our lovely drummer Paul is an expert at playing drums beautifully at both ends of the volume scale!

A> Volume is usually an issue with most live bands. However we have a range of PA systems from 300 to 2000 Watts, and the band uses relatively small onstage amplification. For example, Steve’s favourite guitar amp is only 12 Watts! The band has successfully played all kinds of venues, from 35 people at a private function in a room in a sports centre, to 400 people at a dinner dance function. We’ve even done “unplugged” gigs and can mix this in if you want a quieter first set. (Steve once played in front of 30,000 people at the Party In The Park using a 17,000 Watt PA system, but that’s another story altogether...)

A> Give us enough notice and, if it’s from the sixties or seventies, we’ll do our best to learn “your song”. However please bear in mind that you can’t defeat the laws of physics and, as good looking as the band is, we’re not Madonnas or Kim Wildes (or Smurfs come to that!)Nor do we have any synthesisers for those “Human League” moments.  We will tell you up front if it’s possible for us to cover your song.

Q> Will you learn our special song for our wedding dance?

Q> Will you be too loud for our venue?

Q> Will you turn the volume down if we ask you?

Q> Will you provide background music before you play and in between breaks?

A> It depends. There are a number of factors we take into consideration, for example, how long do you want us to play and what time do you want us to finish. Also how far away from Brighton is it? What time do you want us to arrive? In our experience, for a wedding, you want the band to be there early and set up before the Reception, unless that’s in a separate room. Even a small amount of gear being shipped in between your guests’ tables can become irritating! We’re not the most expensive band in the world (that would probably be Coldplay and we can give you their number if you like...) however we are good at what we do and in most ways you get what you pay for!

Q: How much do you charge?

THE HIGHLIGHTS
Frequently Asked Questions

Q> How long do you play for?

Q> Do you play encores?

A> Usually we play two one-hour sets. However we know a lot more music than that and can tailor an evening to your specific requirements.

A> The band normally gets asked to play on... within reason, we’ll keep the party going, but usually the venue will have a drop-dead time which the band will have to observe.

Q> Do you need feeding?

A> Normally no, but if it is necessary for us to spend most of the day/evening at your function, a plate of sandwiches would be nice! Nobody in the band drinks alcohol while on duty, so we won’t be racking up an “extensive bar tab” at your expense either!

Q> How far will you travel?

A> We are a Brighton-based band, so our natural stamping ground is the South-East corner of England. A normal evening’s range for us would be Southampton to the West and Hastings to the East. We will travel further but obviously that adds to the cost, and it may be more cost-effective for you to book a local band.

Q> Do you mind sound limiters?

A> Yes, we hate them. Usually these are frequency based, so one little cymbal can set the whole thing off. These systems then cut all power to the stage, which in turn can blow modern amplifiers and ruin your evening (not to mention our equipment). We strongly recommend you do not book a venue with a sound limiter if you are booking ANY live music!

Q> Do you only cover sixties and seventies songs?

A> Yes, and we lean towards the pop and rock side of things. You won’t find us doing Grandad by Clive Dunn or Remember You’re A Womble, or Shaddupa Ya Face, nor will we be covering Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra. You will find us covering the likes of the Beatles, The Stones, the Eagles, Bryan Adams, Dire Straits, The Who, T Rex, Slade, The Kinks, Queen, the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, the Doobie Brothers, Quo, Free, Wilson Pickett... you get the idea!
